Our aim is to create a fun learning environment where people with disabilities can grow their social, personal and professional skills in a structured and supportive environment. Whether your passion is captive animal husbandry, animal welfare, customer service, garden/property maintenance or public speaking and engagement; we have a team of passionate and skilled staff ready to help you reach all of your NDIS planned goals and your personal aspirations.
ZooHQ is nestled in the picturesque Australian bush setting of the Macedon Ranges. Our ‘Zoo Crew’ participants simply won’t believe their eyes! Imagine working alongside animals which most people only ever dream of!
Our Story
Wild Action Zoo is a private wildlife facility located in the picturesque Macedon Ranges. Established in 1994, by Zoologist Chris Humfrey. From humble beginnings when Chris first developed his programs as a university student, Wild Action has become the market leader in environmental conservation/education in the state of Victoria, teaching over 250,000 people a year on the importance of conservation, protecting habitat and biodiversity.
Excitingly, Wild Action has developed a new program to assist people living with disabilities and special needs to reach their goals and help to learn new skills that will assist participants to succeed in many aspects of life. Our unique learning experience is designed to allow participants to gain skills develop and grow.

Our Commitment to Animal Welfare
At Wild Action, the care and wellbeing of our animal family is our highest priority. Every animal lives in a safe, enriched environment at our private zoo, where their individual needs are respected.
- All animal interactions are gentle, ethical, and guided by professional zoologists.

What should you expect on an average day being part of our Zoo Crew Team?
Chris and the Wild Action team strongly believe that every day should be the best day of your life! There is never a dull moment at our fast paced ZooHQ. Housing over 2000 native Australian animals, there is always an animal to care for and learn about. The Zoo Crew team each day participate in the captive husbandry of native animals, work outdoors, prepare food, rake and clean, and care for baby animals that need 24 hour care. Oh……did we mention that there will be lots of cuddling too.
Be amazed by working ‘up-close’ and personal with critically endangered mountain pygmy possums, Southern cassowary, Tasmanian devils, little penguins, dingoes, Southern koalas, kangaroos, wombats, short-beaked echidnas, colourful parrots, endangered owls, salt-water crocodiles, behemoth python snakes, ‘eye-licking’ leaf tailed geckoes, green tree frogs + so much more!
